Today one of my friends Yahoo mail account get compromised by some malicious Hacker. I tried to find who is he actually?.

Suddenly an email sent from the Hacked Yahoo ID by the Hacker with the following message:

“How are you doing? I am sorry I didn’t inform you about my traveling for a Missionaries program called Empowering Youth to Fight Racism, HIV/AIDS, and Lack of Education. The program took place in three major countries in Africa which are South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria.  I am presently in Nigeria. It as been a very sad and bad moment for me because I misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where my money, and other valuables were kept. I will like you to assist me with a soft loan urgently.

The total sum of money that i would need  would be $3000 to sort-out my hotel bills and get myself back home. I will appreciate whatever you can afford, I’ll pay you back as soon as i return, Let me know if you can assist me so that i can send you the details to use when sending the money through western union.

I look forward to hearing from you.”

Both of us literally tensed and i started finding who he is actually and where is from ? After few scanning operations i found he used (still using too) the US // Florida // Miami Proxy to send mails. But he is based on Nigeria. I have some good friends from Nigeria, Africa. When i search internet for the similar scam attempts i shocked and found this link. You may use this link to get more details about the same.

Finally recommended my friend to call Yahoo Support directly for further help and Password Recovery Process. Also i reported the complete details provided by the hacker for money transfer to Western Union Money Transfer. After that i planned to provide a separate article that explains Possible Email Threats and an overview about Scamming.

Update on 5th October 2008:

I have sent an email to account-security@cc.yahoo-inc.com , Voila after a little verification steps they have sent the new password . I am pretty much happier than my friend . Anyhow i made reset to all the information after taking copy of the modified one. And reported it to IC3 . So guy’s if you have Yahoo or Gmail Account and someone hacked into it ?, all you must have is the Primary Profile Information that you have given during Registration. They will help you out to get the account back. And try to put it transparent when you write an email to Yahoo Account Security Department with the above email address. So that they can assist you better , i believe . That’s all the update for now. Thanks for reading.
