Introduction:
It is abbreviated as IIS and also known as Internet Information Server. As we all know many web servers are available in the current market. Web server is used to get access to view websites those are loaded in it that we wish to. IIS is also a kind of web server. Web server will act as a center, where website databases exist. It should have static IP address which has to be accessed all over the world by many clients. Using IIS we can make single home pc to act as a Web server. To make this possible, IIS has been released by Microsoft. It is only meant for Windows OS. Versions of IIS so far are given below:

IIS Versions:
* IIS 1.0, Windows NT 3.51 available as a free add-on
* IIS 2.0, Windows NT 4.0
* IIS 3.0, Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3
* IIS 4.0, Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack
* IIS 5.0, Windows 2000
* IIS 5.1, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Center Edition
* IIS 6.0, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
* IIS 7.0, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, Ultimate Editions)
* IIS 7.5, Windows Server 2008 R2 (Beta) and Windows 7 (Beta)
IIS can be installed in the given Versions of Windows above and some Versions will have it installed by default. Here we will see how to install IIS in Windows XP Professional OS (IIS not installed in Win XP Pro by default):
