CAT Exam Servers and 692 Indian Government Websites Hacked

catIts tough time for telecommunication and internet providers of india, where 692 .in websites are hacked within 30 days by hackers across the globe that includes government websites and sites related to universities. Various sources are confirming the CAT Examination servers also compromised and the exam pages are modified. The very first day of the CAT Examination the servers went down, that made students across india to wait for long time and finally returned home without writing the test. The Second day altered login area with some images flashed on the screen. These happenings are triggering the alarm about web security in government and education sectors.

Universities who have web security, information security in their syllabus and create many security professionals are now under attack on their applications. It appears like the hackers haven’t took complex level of attacks. Brute forcing on FTP accounts, Stealing Admin Passwords, Exploiting some of the SQL vulnerabilities they made the hacking possible.

The government is learning to upgrade their systems, when they face data loss or threat from these script kiddies. It also makes one thing clear, that CAT Exam servers must have a proper plan before launching the Online Examination to the students across india. Else, it will create similar inconvenience to its students.
