In an Apple Blog it is said that, the addition of an HD Radio receiver to future handheld devices from Apple could allow users the ability to scan and search through live radio content without having to channel flip.
The new patent from Apple is called “Digital Radio Tagging Using an RF Tuner Accessory,” and the main feature will allow AM and FM radio stations to broastcast digital and analog audio within the same channel.
Apple is planning to upgrade this feature in Apple iPhone 5G Handsets.
