Google announced (on May 15,2008) a safe browsing option to check, whether the site you like to visit is safe or unsafe. Google constantly updates the Blacklists of Phishing and Malware spreading webpages. If you installed Google Toolbar in your browser then it automatically shows the Phishing Pages, Malware or Adware Infected pages.
The Google Safebrowsing [ http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http://yourwebsite.com ] enables us to see whether the site is recently visited by Google, Found as Phishing or Found as a site spreading any malware or adware.
Firefox 3.0.x provides inbuilt phishing or malware detection mechanism too. Here the screenshot that you will see while visiting such pages.
Google API also has the Safe Browsing API, that anables client applications to check URL’s against Google’s Blacklist Database. The Safe Browsing API,
- Warn users before clicking on links that appear in your site when they lead to malware-infested pages.
- Prevent users from posting links to phishing pages from your site.
- Check a list of pages against Google’s lists of suspected phishing and malware pages.
You can make sure that your site visitors or not directed to some Malware of Phishing page even by mistake.
